Transformative leadership

Relationship and structure

The discussion was around building relation with colleagues and following a structure in work. In this way, relationship helps in developing empathy and structure helps in defining role so there is no confusion for the tasks.  Regarding structure, in our research environment we are using projectplace [ link ] which helps in maintaining structure, gives us direction for future and sense of achievement of our past activities.

Be Positive and release negative energy

Always remain positive and transmit positive energy. A good leader always change between different states easily. Release negative energy before talk:).

Conflicts handling styles

Passive

Good leader does following things

· Say Hej,to all,

· Coaches individuals for bright future and make them skillful

· Gives constructive feedback

· Sometime people could take it personal as people are connected to work so deeply so one need to motivate that feedback is not on individual but on work.

· Often involve in small task in order to have familiarity with colleagues

· Small talk could be talk of yourself

· Open questions from other. For example, do you go for skiing.

· Know in person other person in order to avoid conflicts

· Manage meeting effectively. Meeting has start time, purpose and conclusion

· Follow up by asking or sending emails for the tasks

· Fulfill promises

· Self-aware about the strength and weakness of oneself.

Feedback

· Give feedback for improvement.

· Feedback at right time, considering personal circumstances and not in front of people, depending on the person you are engaged.

· Not give a solution but involve a person in identifying the problem.

· Address things with negative person wen gives feedback that you are giving feedback on work, not on him/her. May be this is too direct sentence :) .

· Tell the person that you could be more descriptive but he/she need to be open minded to listen

· Feedback should not result in perfectionist spiral. Taking out the person from micro details, edges and emphasis on the defined goals.

· That is good, could be in feedback.

· So some tips

· Appropriate time

· Good purpose

· Be objective

· Come up with improvement together

· The way you give feedback affect the future work. Feedback could be given in following modes

· Passive which could results in stress as lack of direction

· Dominant

· While working together, if someone come up with a problem. one could focus on questions

· What is the problem?

· How would you like this to be?

· What can you do?

· In conversation you could be

· Stress

· Challenge

· Stuck in problem

· Other problem like guy attend phone or look at smart watch :)
